Warum sagt man „love“ so oft im Englischen?

Have you ever noticed how some English speakers seem to really love using the word love? From „I love that dress!“ to „Don’t you just love hot yoga?“ or even a casual „I love you,“ Americans seem to have little to no reservations when it comes using this notorious four-letter verb.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, an interesting article from The Atlantic asks the question, „Do Americans say I love you too much?“ and compares how Americans liberally pepper our speech with this platitude as compared to how the L-word is used in other languages and cultures.

What’s your take on the topic? Does the word love begin to lose its meaning the more often we use it? Or could we all use a little more love in our daily lives? I’d love to find out. Leave your two cents in the comments below!
